Maintenance Tips

A properly maintained Porsche will serve you for many years to come. This series of quick reference guides provides practical tips for a safer, more enjoyable driving experience.

Air Conditioning System

Use your quick reference guide and driver's manual to find more information about the air conditioning in your Porsche.

  • To cool down your cabin quickly, turn your air conditioning to full power and open all windows for a moment. This will make sure that hot air escapes quickly.
  • An open side window causes turbulences which increases fuel consumption, so using air conditioning actually lowers fuel consumption.
  • Use the air condition regularly, especially in older cars. This prevents the system from building up odours and assures its longevity.
  • Attend to noises from the system immediately. Have your Porsche Centre check the system in case of irregularities.
  • Air conditioning is not only for hot weather. Especially in winter you can enjoy comfortable and safe driving with mist free windows.

Holiday Driving

Here are a few tips to make your journey safer and more pleasurable. Make your holiday memorable - for all the right reasons.

  • Set your air-conditioning system to automatic mode and 22 degrees Celsius (recommended temperature).
  • Do not place objects on the dashboard while driving. If an accident were to cause the airbags to unfold, objects on the dashboard can cause injury to passengers.
  • Close the windows and store luggage in the luggage compartment rather than on the roof. This will reduce the air drag and decrease fuel consumption.
  • Consider the comprehensive range of Tequipment load-carrying accessories and transport systems which have been specifically designed for your Porsche.

Ask about the tailored services offered by your Porsche Centre. The experienced staff will know your Porsche best and will be happy to meet your requirements.

Winter Driving

Seeing the danger is the first step towards avoiding it. Below are some useful tips for safe driving in winter and snow.

  • Make sure the windscreen and windows are entirely clear of obstruction and check that all lights are clean and working properly. Remember, turning on your lights also increases your visibility to other motorists.
  • While at the wheel, wear comfortable clothing that does not restrict your movement. Keep warm clothing for getting out of your vehicle.
  • Winter tyres improve driving safety when temperatures drop below 7 degrees Celcius, providing better traction and handling on all surfaces - not only in snow and ice.
  • Test the air pressure of your tyres every four weeks and ensure that the tread depth remains well above the legal minimum requirement. Winter tyres lose their significant performance when tread depth falls below 4 mm.
  • Even in temperatures above freezing you may encounter ice in shady areas or on exposed roadways such as bridges. These sections of road freeze much sooner in cold weather and stay frozen long after the sun has risen.
  • When driving in snow, decrease your speed and leave at least three times more space than usual between you and the car in front of you.
  • Do not activate cruise control on slippery roads. Winter driving requires that you retain full control of your vehicle at all times.
  • Steer with smooth and precise movements. Changing lanes quickly and jerky steering can cause skidding.
  • In a skid, it is important to regain control of your vehicle. Decelerate without hard braking, step on the clutch or shift to neutral. Look where you want to go and steer in that direction. Should you lose control of your car, slam on the brake, enabling the full activation of ABS and PSM regulation.
